Richard, did you have any interest in the Sheffield bands ABC/Human League or Cabaret Voltaire from the early 80's. As pop albums go ABC's "Lexicon of Love" & The Human League's "Dare" are great pop albums and hard to beat from that era. The Human League single "Being Boiled" is also a great single. |

ABC have got a new single out soon, its being played pretty heavily on Radio 2 at the minute and sounds like they have completely disregarded 1986 - 2008. But in a really good way. Its a definite guilty pleasure of mine just now. And Martin Fry is a big Man U fan which always helps in my book. The less said about advertising crappy Citroens back in '89 the better though... |

treebound story(my first band i was in)used to rehearse at western works beneath cabaret voltaire Richard Kirk is a pal and i loved that band they were lightyears ahead of their time,The Human League were good, not keen on much else,Steve Singleton from ABC is a lifelong friend having been a manager of mine for a long while,ABC was a bit too poppy for me but they were a good band i struggled in the 80's to be honest with music,i hated the new romantic bollocks with a passion, false shite,i loved John Peel that kept me sane along with all my old records that i still love. There were a lot of boss bands from sheff at that time that never got the recogniton they more than deserved,Clock DVA and Artery being two that immediatley spring to mind. |

I think you may have 'misinterpreted' women's pain threshold ... and owe more than half the world's population an apology |

If you're referring to 'Lexicon Of Love', I agree wholeheartedly. However, 'Beauty Stab' is, AFAIC, the single most unfairly ignored record of the 80's, and I got to tell that to Martin Fry himself (an absolute sweetheart, BTW). Richard: Didn't Steven Singleton leave ABC because the other two weren't willing to tour behind that album? |

I agree Bloodshift, I met Martin Fry a number of years back after an ABC show in Cork and he was an absolute gentleman, he signed evrything put in front of him and also stood for photos. I also had a great conversation with him about the late great Billy Mackenzie. |
