Dear old Kath, she's passed away now. She used to invite us round for tea & toast, & tell great stories. One about a big house where her grandmother was in service. One of the servants apparently met a ghost in a corridor, who told her she should leave & get a job elsewhere. The girl didn't. Then, later, she met the ghost again who said 'Mary, I thought I told you to leave this place, but you didn't' The girl said she was sorry. The ghost said 'well put down that tray & leave right now'. She was so afraid that she did leave... That night the house burned down...

As I say, a ghost story. Kath had an interesting life, mind. She nursed her sick mother for years at the house next door to us. (Long before my time here). When her mother died, the local laying out woman was called,
who then promptly dropped dead in the hallway. :?
