Even now, just the mention of the Undertones can get you a great reaction from a crowd here in Belfast. You have to love a band that can get away with the lyrics "he always beat me at subbuteo, cus he flicked a kick and I didn't know!" :D

Loved 'em, one of my favourite bands,i saw them twice in the early 80's,got all the Albums on vinyl,i did see them last year at the Cockpit in Leeds,i must say that i was a bit apprehensive at seeing them as Feargal is no longer with them, but they were superb,Jimmy Jimmy,My Perfect Cousin,if i remember correctly they opened up with You've got my number, brilliant :D :D sometimes when i listen to DAB and radio in general you get the impression that Teenage Kicks was their only hit song, not so,the O,Neill brothers wrote some little gems of songs.

They had a brilliant run of singles, every one of which I bought. Besides "Teenage Kicks", my favourite's were "Wednesday Week" & "Julie Ocean" and I also loved "Jimmy Jimmy", shit, I loved them all.

Or what about on My Perfect Cousin "his brother bought a synthersizer ,got the human league in to advise him " at the time the Human League were unknown. My Perfect Cousin was the 1st of their singles i bought and i remember playing it over and over,i used to go to a night club in Wakefield called Heppys and they had a big screen ,which was unusual at the time,i can still see Feargel belting the song out, happy days. :D :D

My Perfect Cousin was one of the first singles I remember getting...it has so many great lines, the "fur lined sheepskin jacket" always makes me smile :D

I was too young for Punk but i caught the Undertones first time around thay were and are still, one of my favourite bands of all time and in fact i actually think they ARE one of the best bands of all time i have ALL their records.i spent years finding the singles which i treasure very much,John O'Neil was/is a fucking brilliant song writer one of the best there ever was or will be.................does that answer your question?

for anyone unfamiliar this is probably the finest collection of singles ever i am never very far from these songs,it also sports a wholly inappropriate and horrible cover that i doubt the band had fuck all to do with

Yes, that album cover is very unfortunate to say the least.

I noticed the NME are running the worst album covers of all time on their site. This surly must be up there.

Great band unashamed by melody and a real singles band. Get Over You, Here Comes The Summer probably faves. Think Julie Ocean is fantastic.

Get Over You live
