I love those! My gran put me off the white mice, though, cos she used to work at the factory where they made them and she told some pretty nasty stories...

Me too! However, all these chewy sweets are responsible for a mouthful of fillings and a filling actually came out once whilst chewing an opal fruit. My children are late teens/early twenties and don't have a filling between them - probably because I only allowed them chocolate, and not boiled sweets or toffee.

Ooh! Just remembered a barley sugar stick, and a sort of hard caramel stick that had chocolate running through the middle like a pencil; both of which you sucked to a sharp point. This would have been in the sixties.

I remember those too! So we must have had them in the seventies as well...........

And we had blocks of soft toffee/caramel with a cow on the wrapper - scottish I think they were.............

At least you knew they were SUPPOSED to be cigarettes - I remember when there was an outcry and they had to stop putting the red tip on and rename them candy sticks or something..........

Anyone remember a brand of lemonade, cola, orange, etc called Smack?

Sweet tobacco - coconut coated with chocolate - totally addictive.

Sweet cigarettes - yeuk, but the cards that came with them could be fun.

Aniseed balls were my favourites, and cough candy, black jacks, anything flavoured with clove or cinnamon.
