You'll be enchanted to know you were being played in B&Q today! Might be worth trying for cheap deals there?

Cool - I'm a big Meek fan - got over 200 of his 45s in my collection, many from Violet May's.

Most of mine are on CD's. Of course some 45's are quite valuable now.
Wish I had a copy of "I hear a new world"...Some of the CD versions were messed about with and re arranged ! Why ?
Are you going to Holmfirth gig ?

Pass - my brother re-released the original mixes on his RPM label, still available here

http://cherryred.co.uk/rpm/artists/joemeek.htm

He also released a Lovebirds 12", many copies of which are in his attic

Nope, got a few mid-life health issues at the moment. truth be told I've never seen Richard live, something I really must correct sometime. I just enjoy the CDs.

The original RPM catalogue no 103 CD was re arranged and remastered. The version that comes with the book by Barry Cleveland is a warts n' all version, surely a CD of this nature is only going to appeal to Meek freaks and possibly the music production fraternity.
How come we started off in BQ and ended up here! Dread to think where we'd end up if we all met in the pub
Next time I want some creosote I'll mention Richard !

I heard Baby You're my Light being played in Wilkos the other day - at least i think it was you - they sometimes have those rip offs with someone who sounds nothing like the artist don't they? This one was pretty good so was probably you.

I was being talked to in the other ear about moss killer so hard to tell.

p.s completely useless and appalling reply eh? Although you may be interested to know it left white marks all over the patio whch is apparently all my fault

It's last September but we were really impressed to hear "Tonight the Streets are Ours" on the radio in Bardilino, Italy. So impressed we had dinner in the restaurant where it was playing. :D

Next were playing Serious when I was last in, I suddenly showed a great deal of interest in a rack of clothes that were totally not my style while I had a listen.

So royalities....

Do you get a cut everytime your song is played in public? Who checks if the company has paid for the privilege? what a good job that would be, walking about listening for stuff.

Is it a case of, if a tree falls in the forest and noones there to hear it, does it make a sound?

Everywhere that plays music should be registered with the Performing Rights Society. The store should provide play lists and from that the royalties are divvied out.

I wager RH will get a tidy sum every quarter as it includes radio station all over the world. I had a very unsuccesful music career in the mid to late 80s and I still get small amounts of Royalties for stuff from Japan and Australia etc. Given that this was over 20 years ago and none of anything I did sold anything or got near the charts, if you pro rata that to an artist who makes top notch, successful
music like RH, it should be enough to keep the wolf from the door for many years to come.

Was in Pefkos in Rhodes last week and streets are ours came on in a restaurant I was at.
