mr hawley...

i was in sheffield last month and recieved some pretty nasty news which involved me jumping into a taxi at 4am and bombing it back to derby.

i managed to get myself a local taxi and we started driving off with haste to get me to the hospital in Derby.

now...here's where you come in...obviously being from sheffield the driver brought up music as a topic of conversation. we both spoke about yourself and realised we were both fans of your music.

he mentioned that his son....i think...did some work with you down in london...

now unfortunately my memory is a little hazy...i'd had several pints before getting in the taxi. long story short....he was a top bloke, really helped me out, sped all the way for me and got a speeding ticket as a result...but i was twenty quid short for the cab!

he wrote down his name....which i've now lost. i THINK his name was Frank Turner...maybe not frank...but i'm 99% sure it was Turner. i'd like to try and get in touch with him (i have no idea what cab company he works for....i didn't get the number from my phone in time) and chuck him the cash that i owe him and say thanks.

so here's my question...

1) do you know anyone you've worked with from london with the surname turner...work involving a studio (this is so vague hahaha)
2) was the man talking rubbish and altho very friendly spun me a line to keep the conversation going.

i apologise for my strange request!

looking forward to friday...

Dave

haha thank you for reading anyway...

he was EASILY the best taxi driver in the world though!

1) as soon as i got in his cab he told me he had to smoke...
2) he had a huge thermos with sweet black coffee in...

i think we even listened to the kinks hah.

i'm not sure if anyone else agrees...but theres nothing worse than dull taxi drivers. i once missed my train from birmingham back to Derby and grabbed a taxi (80 quid!)...and he just kept going on and on about students and them being 'money grabbin bastards' hahaha.

im reminded of a pretty cool taxi driver who picked up me n the boy hoy in manchester. spent the whole of the journey telling us about all the bands he'd seen - hendrix, dylan '66 etc. for aaaaaages. :*:

i love brilliant taxi drivers.

some of them have been to some brilliant gigs! i once had a driver who saw hendrix at the isle of wight....wasn't that his last ever gig?

dylan 66! woah. i saw dylan 2006....still brilliant...but obviously 1966 would have just been insane :P
