are you planning on playing the new version live when you tour? fuck me, it'll tear the roof off. life in a barrel wouldn't go amiss either. in fact, go for the guinness book of records and play everything you've ever done.

Nice axe work too! Which guitar did you use?

i played Tim McCalls Gretsch double anniversary on the first solo just before his lovely Dad Bill closed the case shut forever,it was a fitting tribute to our kid....

Great tribute and a moving thought.

We saw this today at a small independent cinema in Edinburgh called Cameo - intimate little venue and it was wonderful. The performance by Andrea Riseborough is fabulous, she catches the vulnerability of Rose superbly - even down to her uncertain little style of walking. And 'There's a Storm a coming' at the end was stunning, just can't wait to see it live, with Richard crouching in front of the speakers letting rip on that solo.

I too await the availability of the Brighton Rock soundtrack in the states. Storm is one of my all time favorite tracks......I always blow people away when I play it loud. I cant wait to hear this version......

Richard, You and I shared a few pints after your show on a cold December night in Minneapolis in 2007. I loved how the bartender kept the place open...you were very generous and it was one of the most memorable nights..... Thanks again.

Chuck in Minneapolis.

I have just re-read Brighton Rock, must have last read it in 1972 judging by my maiden name and date being in the book......... and can only say how fitting There's A Storm A-Coming was for the end of the book....../film.......overwhelming anxiety building up.......and of course, the dread to come for Rose listening to the message ........your music and the change in tone as the song reaches a climax is just perfect!

Rose listening to that record is one of the most powerful scenes i have ever watched in a film,it blows me away totally......

Haven't seen the film yet..... but can't remember an ending where a scene you anticipate and imagine, but don't actually read, is so powerful and affecting.......

both the original and the new film have the same effect on me...i weep like a child,so beautiful......cos you know Pinky was a right bastard and he deserved everything that he got but the bitter sweetness of the record sticking at those three little words .....i love you.....that mean so much to us all(well to me anyway, when i am lucky enough to have someone say them to me from time to time)the scene condemns her to always think of Pinky as a lost love to her and the father of her child but also helps her at the same time not feel so utterly alone in the place for wayward girls she ended up in which from what i understand could be terrible places for women at that time as social attitudes were so different but often the only places where they could go,all very very sad.......i love the book very much.
