I think naked darts probably has more social relevance. Especially if there are pert man boobs involved. x

Whole programme from Channel 4 is on You Tube, sadly you have to sit through three full length ads first plus two shorts from Ch 4. Rikchard is on at 24:37.

As I said some time ago, I cannot see how one artist's album can be compared to another completely different artist's album. Awards like this are a nonsense. What these awards do, however, is draw people's attention to musicians they might not know about. People who may not have known about Richard's music but were tuning in to hear another artist are now far richer and can add RH to their music collection. Job done.

I'd never heard of Alt-J. Pretty good but I won't be buying their record. Amazing how posh most bands are nowerdays. No offence meant to them. It shouldn't make any difference of course. The ones that really get on my wick are the old Etonians and the like who now play "folk" music like Frank Turner and Mumford and Sons. It'd probably be unfair to lump them in with them, but that's the vibe I got when listening to them being interviewed.

Hawley and Plan B both made great sounding records with something to say about the way things are today and that's why one of them should have won.

I blame Cameron, talking about how much he loved Eton Rifles when he was younger. Abhorrent. x

I had a listen to Frank Turner as he's the support for The Pogues in December and was severely underwhelmed and definitely won't be going for the support band. My wife bought me the first Mumford and Son CD - it had banjos in it so that looked good and she isn't that bothered about too much music - we listened straight away and after the first track she said "That's not really very good is it?", just lame and faux passion. I was gutted when Ray Davies did a duet with Mumford and Sons - though most of his choices for a singalong were awful and I won't buy it unless it's £1 somewhere for Alex Chilton.

Not heard Alt J - not in a rush to either, however good they might be - shit name, full stop

I cannot believe he's supporting the Pogues!!!!!!!! I bet that's down to the Pogues manager not down to the band.

No disrespect meant to Mumford and Sons or their fans. They are certainly talented, but it's not exactly Ewan Maccoll or Woody Guthrie.
