Ah thanks folks had a great day recording the next b-side with the lovely Colin,it was great to sit singing whilst watching the snow falling outside, got lots of ace messages and cards, just waiting for the birthday curry to arrive playing with our dogs(we got a puppy for crimbo he's ace ten weeks old)the boys are having a monster snowball fight......Martin Simpson just dropped a fuckin massive crate of wine round and we'll be playing together later......and supping some of the good juice..........I guess nows a good time to let you know I've stopped smoking, day 17 now and no problems.....I think I'll make it this time I was so horrifically ill at Christmas I thought I was drowning from the inside I just pulled the plug and I feel really really great........bless you all for taking the time for the nice messages ..>

Happy Birthday Richard. Have a great evening. So glad to hear you are kicking the smoking habit. I'm in my mid sixties and have lost so many friends and colleagues over the years who have passed away far too early - almost certainly due to a smoking habit. It must be immensely difficult for you right now but if you stick to it there will surely be tremendous benefits from continuing good health in the middle and later years.

Well done, keep it going. Does this mean the gap between the 'last' song and the encore won't be quite so long in future :P

I’m not being previous but if you can do a curry and a crate of wine after 17 days, and not have a fag, you’re well on your way to stopping for good. Keep on keeping on…x

Booze and eating are always the hardest – when I smoked, I always had a tab after dinner and when I had a drink. If you’ve done both and not had one, you’re on your way. Fingers’ crossed. x

And booked my summer spot here yesterday – all those desert island pictures making me sick so had to do something. These trees look just right... might get me a hammock of me own. X
