i was disappointed to read today that adele is apparently up for writing the next bond song, (i have nothing against her track for skyfall however it met me with indifference) i merely see it as a missed opportunity. ever since i started listening to Mr Hawley i have been sure that he is perfect to write a bond song, his vocals, gentlemanly guitar tone mixed with his more recent effect ridden exploits firstly capture the duality found within the bond character as well as i think it would earn Richard some well deserved attention from the masses. and i think if we get enough people behind it something will happen, power of the people and all that malarky. now i know this is hardly the fairest site to post this as you all are undoubtedly Hawley fans, but i feel its a start.

I thought adele's song sounded like the worst vic and bob pub singer impersonation. Dreadful.

There have been some dreadful tunes over the years (Duran Duran/Aha to name two of the worst!). Richard would make a great job of any theme I'm sure but would it really be cool enough and would it suit his independent nature? I'd only support it if we actually saw a video of Richard and the guys in black leather instead of a load of female silhouettes against flames or am I out of date? Haven't seen the last few!! 8)

I always thought that the tony christie tune me and col produced"danger is a woman in love"would be a brilliant bond theme.......I think adeles theme is the best one for years,since the 70's really cos there's been some horrific shite since hasn't there? :eh?

If the title of the next Bond film is 'what you clapping for this might be shit' I reckon there's a good chance :wink:

Otherwise Richard and the guys in drag would be fine by me.

There are plenty of Richard tunes that could be used for Bond movies - She Brings The Sunlight for one - write the film around the song...

I think James Bond should do his own songs, the misogynistic twat!

I am slightly guiltily partial to a couple of a-ha tunes so I won't join the a-ha bashing but indeed many of the more recent Bond songs have been rather shite- I thought Adele's song followed the trend lyrically even though the song itself could have been great with some more thought into the words

let the sky fall
when it crum balls

and the fact that every freaking sentence had to rhyme in the most horrible way possible

of course there's always Jarvis' rejected theme ;)

That would be the coolest Bond theme ever. Left the whole of the Royal Albert Hall speechless when Tony guested with you there in 2008, did it not ..>

There's a Storm Coming as performed at Magna. Now that would be an amazing Bond song. I didn't mind Adele's. It has the right 'feel'. Bassey and Live and Let Die are the only memorable Bond songs for me. Duran Duran was the nadir.

You Only Live Twice is a lovely tune and obviously the theme song from Dr. No is genius.

the state of the lyrics of "skyfall" was in my opinion poor, which is why i feel it's time to place the next bond theme in the capable hands of Richard, a master of finely crafted songs and lyrics, because bond themes are our presentation to the rest of the world. bond is quintessentially british and what better to accompany the opening credits than the artist with the style that is, to me at least, pretty much the closest musical equivalent to our world famous spy (i say musical equivalent, i have no idea what Richard does in his spare time other than write music and roam our woodlands. however i'm aware that the suggestion in the previous sentence may result in my mysterious disappearence, if that does happen make sure the next bond theme is written by Hawley.)
