This is on Radio2 on Tuesday 1 July, 22.33-23.30:

"Former Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker takes you on an intimate tour of Sheffield.

In his evocative musical map, Jarvis creates a soundtrack that drives his memories, feelings and observations about his home town. Growing up in a city that was still reeling from the loss of big industry, Jarvis recalls his childhood, surrounded by family, and listening to conversations about love and disappointment. Along the way, he introduces the music of Sheffield legends, including Joe Cocker, Cabaret Voltaire, The Human League and Artery."

Just listened to this... It was really interesting :D And very entertaining... And there were lots of instrumental bits of old Pulp songs while he was talking, which was good. :*:

Great show.

Cocker needs to do more of this sort of thing. I can see him fronting a six-part TV series drifting round Britain mildly irritating people. A bit of a Bill Bryson, John Betjeman or Russell Harty travelogue. A blend of social commentary, chatting with local characters, poignancy and silliness.

A really well edited show. Radio can be compulsive.

Yep... Think it was in a few parts - maybe four? I'm desperate to see them now. I was too young to be interested first time round

yeah, that was on channel 4 around late 90's if i recall, had some cracking stuff... seem to remember jarvis visiting some bloke that had decorated his house with beer cans, maybe he was inspired by all the students that used to think making 'beer can curtains' for their windows was really wacky
