Firework display coming soon................ with The Fix as one of the accompanying tracks.................

Big night of firework fun

SHEFFIELD'S After Dark Bonfire Night spectacular is going ahead this year without a hitch - despite a worldwide shortage of fireworks.
Chinese authorities used hundreds of thousands of tonnes of pyrotechnics at this year's Olympics and also closed down factories and stopped movement of fireworks on safety grounds during the games.

As China is the world's biggest producer of fireworks, there had been concern about a shortage but organisers of the Sheffield event planned ahead and ordered this year's consignment last December.

After Dark organiser Scott Barton said: "We start working on the next After Dark event a good 11 months ahead and we were determined to ensure that we had more fireworks than ever for 2008.

"We placed the order very, very early and ensured it was in the UK long before the Olympics.

"Some displays around the country have been caught out and are now struggling to get hold of quality material. But I'm pleased to say that we are confident it will be the best display we have ever put on."

The event is taking place Don Valley Grass Bowl, next to Sheffield Arena, on the evening of Wednesday November 5.

Fireworks at After Dark will be choreographed to music which this year includes tracks from Ting Tings, The Futureheads and 2008 Mercury Music Award Winners Elbow, featuring Richard Hawley.

Organisers said the display will finish to a mystery song which they promised will be "the most uplifting fireworks song ever written, perfect to bring a smile to people's faces amidst the credit crunch".

Gates open at 5.30pm and live music begins on the Real Radio Stage from 6pm. The bonfire will be lit at 7pm before the mammoth fireworks display starts at 8.30pm.

Tickets cost £8 for adults, and £4 for children aged three to 13. A family ticket for two adults and two children is £20, and under threes get in free.
