nope, well maybe a bit on crimbo day but i am so fucking ill with flu and bronchitis that i think i would keel over

1-Its time to address the fags thing,i earn my living singing and playing guitar, this last year i have been ill 4 times with this shit and this bout is the worst EVER.I can hardly talk or breathe....ergo........

2-Basically i go round the world getting pissed.......all year...the odd gig thrown in here and there admittedly i crave time with my family,so the LAST thing i want to be is pissed

3-what is the FIRST thing i want when i even see wine, beer or Guinness?

a tab....ergo............and i will,if i get over this fucker of a chest infection............have a lovely time...without booze or fags.

Good luck! :D

Perhaps you should try hypnosis to stop you associating the two - perhaps they can persuade you that the only thing you need with a guinness is a beer mat! :*:

Didn't you say you were giving up the booze and cigs last time you were this ill? :*: :*:
If you can manage to stay badly for a month I think you might manage to stay off the fags, it's a good way to detox or whatever they say, cravings won't be so bad by then....

Best of luck to you though, if you want to stop badly enough you will.

My Mum gave up smoking after 40 years. She's 77 now & I doubt she'd still be here if she'd carried on. Strangely after all the doctor's warnings & so on, it was the cost which made her pack them in

Good luck with it Richard, I suspect you have the willpower for it

I gave up over 20 years ago.... did it using hypnosis which was brilliant as she kept reinforcing how disgusting it was and made me picture an ashtray full of nasty tab ends. Couldn't look at a full ashtray for years afterwards without feeling very sick .

Only problem was I could have easily got addicted to the hypnosis, it was soooooo relaxing :*:

I wish you all the best to quit Richard, I quit myself years ago, (I am the same age as you) I know it is difficult at first, but eventually you forget all about them. I did it for my kids too. Get well soon.

Good luck quitting Richard. I know it's not easy, but you owe it to yourself and your family. Smoking just isn't worth the health risks.

My wife Kara's cancer although not smoking related is now in her lungs, she has a terrible painful cough all the time, feels like shit, is exhausted and is on morphine. We hoped she'd be feeling better for Christmas after finishing the chemo - It doesn't seem that way at the moment. She's 34 and we have 8 year old twins. I never thought I'd be dealing with this shit at this age. It is totally devastating to have to deal with.

Anything you can do to reduce your risk of getting the horrible illness - try and do it.

Cheers for your words Richard and Lofty,

Unfortunately Kara was admitted to Weston Park yesterday - hopefully they'll sort her out, so she can enjoy Christmas with the kids and me.

Keep, keeping off the tabs Richard!

Ben
