Mr Pete L2sb I would have to agree with you there, His n' Hers is without a doubt better than Different Class.

Much better artwork aswell in my humble opinion. The 12" of Lipgloss was me personal favourite...

Well, there's loads of great little bands that have come out of Sheff.
Suffice to say Richards work is certainly up there  , but Moloko's debut was fantastic, Fee Fi Fo Fum still stands up as a cracker of tune from the mid nineties.

His n Hers is THE Pulp album for me, Should Lexicon of Love really count with Fry and Whhite being from Manchester? Love it to pieces though. Dare should be up there, The Sun is often out also deserves to be up there and it's a special album for me too.

What about some of Frank Whites work, the mans a guitar god?
World of Twist? were they from our side of the Pennines? I remember them having a Manchester connection, but they certainly were good enough.

But surely Speedy deserve the award?

Then again I did cellotape my ears closed the last time I heard boy wonder, so perhaps it's got better over time. Then again. No, I know it hasn't. It still causes bleeding to occur in small children and the last time someone played a copy in Arbourthorn, the police had to bleach small animals and children caught in the sonic explosion. The culprit was sentenced to a night of listening to Limp Bizkit whilst small rodents ate cheese of their belly.

Not good.

Hey,

Three words:

'Oceans' by Artery!

No idea whether it's the 'best' or not, but it deserves to be up there I think. The first two Human League albums are great too... and I unfashionably reckon Octopus (from 1995, with Tell Me When and the likes on it) is genuinely as good as anything else they've done.

On a final silly obscure Sheffield note that might mean something to someone here... I got an email from the drummer out of the Defective Turtles the other week! He sent a flier over from a gig they played with Pulp at the Hallamshire in 1980. Apparently the show was taped... and he lost it. :?

'Dare' for me...

Honourable mention for the Pigs who aint there...

...and 'Lets Go Distortion Kids!' - Myro. Its raggedy as hell but you wonder where they could have gone if they hadn't left the planet Earth. A Fear and Loathing roadtrip in a crap studio?

What time at the :WOOF for a :GUINNESS were you thinking...?

...and secondly, we bought this recently. It's fucking gorgeous but needs a little bit of attention. Does anyone know where in Sheffield I can take it? What about that guy that runs a shop on Abbeydale Road? Can't remember his name - but he's in the Made In Sheffield documentary.

Is it Bardwell's you're thinking of?

If not there, Pete Hartley who has a little shop opposite the Post Office on London Road should be able to sort you out. He made the drummer from Def Leppard's one-armed drumkit and the amp Eddie Van Halen plays in the solo to Beat It by Michael Jackson, as well as sorting the electrical needs of Pulp, Moloko, Paul Carrack, Eurythmics, Status Quo and many many more. He's a nice bloke too, interviewed him for Sandman once.

In the meantime I've purchased the following from Ebay in the last few days...

I went for the Lonely Surfer after your Ummmmm posting expedition, as with the Bobbie Gentry LP. Cowboy Copas is an unknown quantity, it just looks fucking ace. I'm waiting for One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest to arrive from Amazon. I've been after that for a while and I can't wait...
