What's all this about RH doing a turn in there the other day?

I've not been up there yet - I'm hearing good things about ale and food, if not a little new still.

Its about time a good boozer appeared up the way.

Mentioned in a tweet from Stephen Cole (among others) "Martin Simpson Jon Boden Roy Bailey Richard Hawley all on one hankerchief stage at Greystones" - sounds like a good gig.

It was a BrightPhoebus gig - main artist Martin Simpson with special guests.

I'm worried about you drinking. Quite honestly, hard liquor on top of the amount of mind-altering drugs you've been taking lately... not a good idea. x

it was a charity gig to help raise money for a little lad called Alexander Burland the gig raised a fair bit to help him on his way you can find out more here

http://www.martinsimpson.com/news/-/mar ... f8446708f7

May i also take this opportunity to recommend Martin Simpson's music,he is really really ace and for any guitar players who read this be prepared,he is a MONSTER player,i have rarely witnessed such an enormous talent so humbly displayed on such a small stage as last night and Roy Bailey sang a beautiful song that had the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end about the Aberfan disaster, not to mention the very wonderful Jon Boden who it was a true pleasure to finally meet and make a little bit of music with him and Martin was a real treat,i had a top evening and it was a pleasure to be asked to contribute to the event thank you to one and all.

Glad you enjoyed Martin Simpson’s playing Richard……he is a bit good isn’t he?

I’d known of him for years but finally got to see him a couple of years ago…stunning!!
Even tho he gets lumped in with the trad/folky thing he is such a versatile player.

Would you ever consider asking him to play on one of your albums?

Curses. We were going to go to this but had to be in London for work. Mrs SPT is a fan of Martin Simpson, got her a few CDs to replace her old cassettes just this Xmas.

Only realised that the Greystones was doing stuff when I noticed on the Handsome Family site that they're due to play there in May. Will definitely try to get to that. Could walk home at a push!

Will there be anything left of The Greystones after this?

The sweat from Norman Watt-Roy could well cause another Sheffield flood.

Seen this venue as 'up and coming'....
Any ideas of the capacity?

Have they got a soundguy now then? when we played there we had to do the sound ourselves, took all afternoon to figure it out!
