I'll be visiting Sheffield this Saturday to see the mighty Oxford United take on the hopefully less mighty Rotherham and would like a bit of advise on where to park and where to drink. Plan is to park in Sheffield city centre, have a couple of beers, tram out to Don Valley for the game then back to Sheffield for a few more beers before heading home. So any help on somewhere to park, and one or two decent pubs (besides Fagans) in the city centre would be much appreciated.

Cheers in advance.

Mike

There's a big car park at the station, i think top whack for over 12 hours is about £13 which is what i paid when i'd been to That London last week. Most of the car parks in town only go up to 6 hours i think which might not be long enough, and you'd probably struggle to park anywhere for nowt.

Station car park is handily placed for the excellent Sheffield Tap which is in the station itself, and you can also hop on the tram from there (though you need to change lines after a couple of stops to get out to Don Valley).

After the game you could get the yellow tram back into town into the centre for Fagans and work you way back to the station from there.

I presume we're talking 'proper' pubs, so you could also check out the Red Deer and Bath Hotel (both just off West Street on opposite sides).

Or there are loads of rubbish pubs too if they're your thing.

Oh and The Washy, how could i forget?

Devonshire Cat's alright if you don't mind something a bit trendier/bordering on chain pubs but with a good range of beer. Likewise Henry's too.

You're fortunate to be playing that bunch of sub-human scum so as in which case i wish The U's nothing but the very best of luck and hope you absolutely hammer the bastards. :D

Nothing against Oxford aside from them being Southern nancies and having extortionate ticket prices the last time i was there.

Oh and i should warn you now watching football at Don Valley is shite (miles away from the pitch, devoid of any atmosphere etc.), but at least you have some great pubs to visit.

Hey, Hey, Hey....back up there sparky!!

Andy Scott has got the mighty Millers buzzin and at 20-1 for the title it's
the easiest way to make a few quid in years!

The only unfortunate thing is that we are still playing in shitty Sheffield,
having said that, we are still the best team playing in Sheffield and South
Yorkshire come to that. 8)

After the Millers have romped to the Division 2 title come next May, and
the fecking miserable, dismal Donny have been relegated, 2012/2013
season we'll be in the same division then we'll see if you're still full of
it when weve taken the 6 points off you! :P

Bring it on!!

you can always try the Harlequin on Nursery Street, there's parking in Aizlewoods Mill next door to the pub...and as a special treat, i'll be playing guitar with Eyeball that night., expect a mix of bluesy rock'n'roll originals & covers!!

Thanks for the offer Mr L but we'll probably be leaving Sheffield at around 8.30 (last orders at home etc.) so I guess a bit early for your set. Might have a look in anyway.

No probs, if you get chance in the daytime i recommend the Gardeners Rest on Neepsend Lane, very nice pub, great staff and a lovely beer garden!
Hope you have a good day!
