My mate and I have decided to do a pub crawl around Sheffield tomorrow after we've travelled across the Peak District by train.

Where are the best, characterful places to go to? We're looking at about 7-8 places that will take us on a loop from the station and back again, ideally with walking distance only between each one.

All help gratefully received. Thanks!

One of the best pubs in Sheffield is in the Station - the Sheffield Tap - so that's start and end sorted.

if you do make it out of the 'Tap (not easy), try: Rutland Arms (brown st,not far from station), devonshire cat &/or washington (wellington st & fitzwilliam street), frog & parrot (division street), Dog & partridge (trippet lane), then Fagans nearby down the hill (broad lane), then taxi back to the station, or walk down to Shakespeares (gibralter st) first if there's time/capacity - there's a big curry house down there too (7 spices balti).

and generally avoid West Street.

I quite like the Red Lion on Arundel Street too. Close to the station as well.

Three tuns, Shakespeare, fat cat, kelham island tavern, Gardner's rest, wellington, tram back to the station.

Too late now i know but i'd have added The Bath to that list.

And unless there's been a massive improvement in the Dog & Partridge in the last few months then i hope you avoided it!

Well I'm in a lot of pain today but it was worth it. Had a great day in a great city. Thanks for all your input!
