I've just been given a bottle of Henderson's relish by a friend who went to Sheffield for the weekend and knows of my penchant for sauces.

As a relish virgin, my immediate impression is that it looks exactly like Worcester sauce. Does it also taste exactly like Worcester sauce? Is it best used in cooking, or can I splosh it liberally over my dinner?

get it going everywhere, on all foods including cereal, put in in with your clothes in the washer, gives em a hendo's freshness.

get it splashed on some fish n chips or some beef n yorkshire puds.

or as paul pointed out, on your face in the morning, on your toothbrush, use it to wash your hair [edit: damn, Richard got there first. grrrr]and have a dash in your first coffee of the morning.

And is it suitable for veggies? Not that I am but my other half is - W******** sauce contains anchovies. And is it only available in the Sheff area?

Is it wheat free (i.e. thickener isn't modified starch)?

After this outpouring of enthusiasm I can barely wait to get home and splash it all over my tea.

What with it being 30 degrees in London I was toying with the idea of a ham salad or something, but now I'm considering a shepherds pie. I'm guessing it would work nicely with that?
