hi,

i've generally just read the forum for a long time because when i did post i thought i sounded a bit of an arse (about 2 years ago), so it occured to me not to bother annoying anyone. that was probably a couple of years ago, so maybe now i'll have another go......

my wife has a decent chance of a job in sheffield, so we could be moving down from york in the spring.....i know sheffield a little bit, and i go there intermittently, but my knowledge is a little flimsy.....
maybe people could suggest some areas where we might look at houses, bearing in mind we have a little 2 yr old girl, and some cool places to check out.....
essentially what i need is some decent pubs, places to watch bands and music (excepting the city hall and the octagon which i know), some nice record shops and cafe's.
i think that would keep me fairly happy.

Jim

hiya mate, endcliffe, fulwood and broomhill are all nice areas in my view, probably lots of other suggestions as to where to go though....pubs, where do you start, Sheffield has some of the best pubs ever - fagans, bath hotel, the red deer, the washington, riverside...all great places for a starter.
Up and coming bands/artists....west street live and the grapes are a good bet, there is always something good on there.

Record shops.....record collector (need i say more :D )

cafe - sharon's, blue moon, alfie and bella...the fairtrade tea bar in the indoor gardens, coffee revolution on ecclesall road....the cafes in endcliffe park and as you walk along you'll find some great little havens.

anyroad thats my two pence worth, i'm sure there are lots of other places folks will mention

i live in heeley with a 3 yr old son (and his mum), the nursery he is at came in the top 22 in the country, there is heeley city farm close by and town is only 5 mins/10 mins away. decent pubs dotted about. Nothing is too far away in Sheffield.
