Hi - Sheffield is a good place to live, so welcome in advance. As Luke says Broomhill, Ranmoor Fulwood are all nice with good pubs and easy bus routes, BUT expensive- I live in Broomhill but only because of lucky moves in the past - I've lived in Netheredge which is lively and easy to get into town - I know people who live in Meersbrook and that looks good and considerably cheaper. On a boring note, looking at your daughter's age, check out the school catchments on the Sheffield city council website before you move here, otherwise you'll have a nightmare later on - you could send her to Broomhill school which is a foundation school (but free)and takes kids from all over Sheffield, but it's only an infant school. It is brilliant though! :)

thanks for those,
looks like we'll probably rent anyway for a start, as i doubt we'll sell our house immediately, so we can take a look at those areas.....

my sife has been checking out schools and catchment areas and things like that, and as long as my little girl is happy then thats ok with me.....

so, is there a listing magazine or website for sheffield, or is it just best to keep an eye on here

You should bear in mind that the quiz machine in the Fox & Duck is broken and it means we currently have to talk to each other at lunch time.

when I said Fulwood, Ranmoor and Broomhill, Broomhill is by far the best -the pubs are okay,- we tend to go to the Broomhill tavern as there is less likelihood of students, but also there's some good cafes -I prefer Remos on the main road, and Waynes, the best fruit and veg shop ever...I've lived there for 5 years, and worked there for 13!!! :D

broomhill tavern is a great pub (and yes craig it does have what would formerly be known as a saloon bar) - i love the cafe on the corner too katikins - used to go down there and get a scrumptious breakfast of a morning :D

I never even considered going to sheffield - but since I came across Richard's music I think I'll definitely have to fly over soon and check out all the places mentioned in his songs etc.
