More stuff about tossers...

Sunday 23/03/2008

Justin Currie - Studio [Peter Street] Mancsville

Justin has a talent for loquacious social comment woven into simple arrangements that sets him apart from a whole load of dross.

However if your support act exits stage left at 8.10 p.m. and your playing an acoustic set in a pokey hole of a club how come it takes almost an hour for the change over?

And how come half the folks who jabbered their way through the support act continued to do so when the main man finally arrived on to the stage? Reminiscent of MTH circa 73 when the girl in front of me did nothing but plead for 'Buffin' ever five seconds - two die hard female Currie fans held court over what a fine green silk shirt the man was wearing for most of the first two songs.

And another thing - what’s this with every fuffer at a show nowadays taking 200 pix of the performance on their phone or recording the whole damn thing on video - fine if your not obstructing other folks view of the proceedings - but not fine if as your a bit a big bastid and consciously stand near the back - your view to the stage resembles an ostrich farm at feeding time.

We stuck it out for about thirty minutes of the set - but when I realised the 'squishy' sound that failed to match the tempo of the songs was not some new digital effect but the sound of folks walking over a manky sticky floor back and forth to an over flowing 'Ladies and Gents', I decided that playing Justin’s latest CD - excellent by the way - in the car whilst adjourning for a couple of pints in a quiet Pub out of Manchester was to be the favoured option.

Jeeeeeeeez - Ive become a real boring old bleeder in the last few weeks -lets face it folks on this website may have a penchant for a man in a silver shiny suit but you do listen to the music at a show don't you?

I'm off to play some Hank Williams to cheer me self up...

Fair point - in which case open the doors at 8.00 rather than have a few hundred queue up for doors that opened as per the ticket at about 7.00 and bring your support act on about three quaters of an hour before your due on stage.

Bring back Sunday matinee shows at 12/6 a time - that way I can see the gig get bladdered and be home in time for Songs of Praise...

what about farting and picking your nose, that should also be an option.

And grace is just the measure of a fall.

Doors at 8 = one less hour of the bar open = less ££££££££ for a venue. Money talks even more than the ignorant wankers who'll chelp all the way through someone's set.

It talks, but too bad it never really makes too much sense. :D

I thought we all did that at home/ in the car [at traffic lights] - except of course the ladies on this MB - because as we all know ladies do not fart [they just pick their noses]...
