The Undertones were brilliant. And John O'Neill is a brilliant songwriter. I think he write 'Julie Ocean' after touring with Orange Juice. He was a massive fan of them apparently.
'All wrapped up' was a terrible sleeve (I think it was meant to be some comment on consumerism. eg greatest hits just like selling meat!!!?????) but like Richard said it was some collection.
I must admit I saw The Undertones mark two and I thought they were great too.
Did anyone like That Petrol Emotion. Loved stuff like 'Big Decision' and 'Cellophane'

My friends at school were a bit older than me....so got me into loving The Undertones............we used to have a portable tape player on the school bus and play tapes to and from school..................and when we went out on Friday nights we used to get plastered and play My Perfect Cousin....and jump about like lunatics.................................I mean those lyrics were just what you wanted to hear as a youth....................

I LOVED Big Decision. I seem to remeber that the video was weird, with the band swimming round in a tank, or am I getting it mixed up with something else???

Yeah, I really like That Petrol Emotion. I only know a few of their songs, but I think they are really great.

They were on The Tube back in the 80's and I've always like that performance.

On an anorak level, I've got the Undertones singles box set on CD which is really tops if your into that kind of thing. 12 CD singles in their original artwork. I dug it out last night, it's like pretending my CD player on my laptop was a record player. I haven't played any CD singles in ages.

Yes, I remember that video. Can't remember what the song was called though. I think it was on an NME video to raise money for CND that Frank Sidebottom hosted.
That Petrol Emotion were brilliant live too.

I had forgot about That Petrol Emotion,so i had a search thru' my cassette box as i was sure i had their 1st album on tape, found it and its called Babble,i do remember liking Big Decision and the album was decent too,not had time to listen to it as yet, bet its at least 10 years since i played it,i always thought it a strange name for a band, gonna look em up on t'internet to see how much stuff they did etc.
