Just bought the Elbow album (new release day Fri in Ireland) and have been playing The Fix over and over, it's an absolutley great track and would make a great single, must stop playing that track now and listen to the rest of the album. I've only got one other Elbow album "cast of thousands" which is also great. Richard, is there anly video footage of you and Elbow together?. Great track.

Tis a shame that. The previous two Elbow albums were recorded by a crazy bunch called The Soup Collective and released as DVDs.

The Fix sounds incerdibly filmic to me and I'd be amazed if it isn't used in a movie at some point.

Any plans to do The Fix on TV? Jools/Ross or whatever?

ah... found a thread that I can hijack without starting a new one.

I finally got round to getting the elbow album this weekend and listening to 'the fix' now.

Have to say for some reason I find this track very 'unsettling' for want of a better word, very sinister and cinematic. (agreeing with whoever said filmic up there). Same effect Nick Caves 'Carny' has on me.

I know comparisons and similarities are a bit of the last resort of the lazy reviewer, but i''ve been drawing comparisons between some of your stuff and some of Barry Adamsons of late, some major differences but a foot in the same camp at times, the fix and its story telling thing made me think of this again yesterday. Any thoughts or opinion on his stuff?

Hope you are still making the Delamere gig, will be toppermost to see this live and anything else you contribute too. If you fancy hijacking the gig and slipping 'the only road' into the set list....

I bought it this morning and after the first listen I think I am gonna like it more than Leaders...and I play that one to death.
It's wonderful, atmospheric and The Fix has that Lunatic Have Taken Over The Asylum feel, Very film noir...I agree on that.

the track 'One Day like this' is anthemically superb.

Dunno if you can get 'listen again' web access over there, but if you can listen to the session they did on Dermot O'Leary on Radio 2 on saturday. that was the reason I went out to get the walbum.

I went to Delamere Forest yesterday with my Daughter, her Boyfriend and their dog. We went into the Visitor Centre and bought tickets for the Elbow Gig, she it treating me for my birthday. :D She is a treasure. 8)

I saw an elsebound train, on the overpass
In the driving rain, every ticket costs the same
For where you can't go
Mustang horses, champagne glasses
Anything frail anything wild
It's the price of living motion, what's beautiful is broken
And grace is just the measure of a fall.

Cheers for that Eoin :D

Would have loved to have gone to the Delamere Elbow gig but away for the weekend - always next time!

It's possible that this is featured on the Culture Show next week - I can only find a reference to BBC Wales but presume we all get the same version :D

the blog says 10th June but I can't see anything on the actual website - probably because it wants me to download a later version of flashplayer - and I can't be bothered................. :?
