So far all the stuff on iTunes is my music and despite my best efforts he really wants Bullet From my Valentine and even trying to drag over isn't working

I'd be ok if it wasn't for the fact that a) we're off on holiday on Friday and I'd like him to have his music

and b) it's his birthday on the 9th and I'd etc............

Thanks Denise, you are calm about these things and it is transmitting

Will try again tomorrow

Our Dansette sported legs for a time. Those tubular aluminium ones that screwed in. They came off our old black & white TV when we got a new one. Have to say it looked well funny! Those legs made great drum sticks too, when I was a kid :*:

Daft question but what format is Bullet from my Valentine imported in? is ti AAC or MP3, or something else which might not go over on to the pod? If it's something else then you'll need to change a setting.

and I'm only calm when it's someone else's problem, if it was my iPod it would have been thrown at the settee if it wouldn't do what I wanted.

Video must be mpeg4 - if its in quick time just right mouse on the track and convert for iPod, then it will go over.

How long is the title of the video - if it has a very long title for some reason that won't transfer over so shorten it to just a few words.

Another tip is to check what type of video it is (in the get info mode look at the video tab and it should be a music video rather than movie or podcast).

Another is that not all MPEG-4 files are created equal and need converting so try the right mouse, convert for iPod if it is available.

And if all fails, go on You Tube, find the video, use Zamzar to convert it to MP4, download it, add to iTunes and that will definitely work.

Trouble with a Dansette is that you can't fit it in your pocket, and then there's the hundreds of 12"s to take with you. Maybe they should design an application for MP3 players to take away the sterile sound and inject some of the hiss and crackle.

I'm 73 feet tall - I have a Dansette strapped to each ear.

I got a USB turntable on which i've transferred a lot of vinyl - however I have had trouble transferring 78's to MP3 file. You have to use a different programme that isn't straight forward and for a technophobe, it's too much hassle to learn. I don't get why it can't be just like tranferring a 45rpm single

I do mine direct to the iPod with a microphone attachment but it only works with the older iPods, also got a pocket DAB radio which records so can use line in on that (that's how I capture the stuff Richard does on the radio). You just connect either the radio or the iPod microphone to the headphone socket of the turntable as each has a line in. The iPod creates them as WAV files and the radio direct as MP3 and you can choose the quality. I'd recommend the radio, not cheap though but very useful. It's an Oono which you can only get mail order, but it means as long as your turntable has a headphone socket (or is connected to a hi fi system with one) you can capture the vinyl.

Most of them seem to record the 78s at either 33 or 45 and then the software converts but this one's info doesn't say that and gives the impression it records at the right speed.

Edit

This one claims to be the only one at the lower end of the market that converts 78 'natively'
