Dear Richard,

As the album cover is an artistic interpretation I was interested in finding out what it really looked like back in the day.

I found this early photograph and was amazed. I think I may have located you on it as a whippersnapper - I have highlighted "Junior Hawley" for your perusual.

P.s I hope you've binned those shorts

Whether it was a fake or not I think the sleeve of that album is quite touching. It captures that sense of romantic longing which is prevalent on the record.

I always prefer it when the sleeve captures something of the record; it's almost like a book cover in that it adds to the experience of the record. I quite like the The Stone Roses sleeves for the same reason.

There's a few pictures on the Partnership's web site for JL Sheffield, I'll see if our Archivist has any other pictures of the place.

Aye aye sarcy

I sort of saw the flowers in the bin as representing another wasted evening with hopes pinned on someone who never even bothered to turn up....

But I suppose it could be more a case of: fook this for the price of fish, i'm off for an ale....

Call me a romantic but I kinda of prefer the first one.

I'm with the first ... the fading beauty of discarded cut flowers representing the fickleness of a promise.  Not that there's a romantic chink in my cynical armour, I hasten to add.

pretty cool stuff on here

but no coles corner sadly

Speaking of the golden era - i've been reading this recently - facinated by this club60 place, still opens up from time to time too doesn't it? To those in the know.
Must be like going back in time going down that cellar. There should be more underground venues, and I should be allowed to go and explore.

Just had a look at the Coles Corner video on YouTube. Someone had commented "Elegantisimo Richard Hawley, calidad indiscutible."

Having cruised a few bars in Barcelona in my time, I happen to know it means..."Not bad for a speccy Northern bloke."

Someone else wrote: "I hang round with all sorts of people. From 10 bob wanna be gangsters to toffs indy boys ,rock chicks, old coots, bling boyz the lot. Everyone of them loves this fooking tune."

P.S. Yes, OK. It really means "elegant Mr H is top quality, without a doubt" or something very close.
