It said on central news this morning that the main road in to Castleton (from the south) was closed, just thought i'd mention it!

Was planning on driving up to West Yorkshire after work today, staying over with my sister and then heading to Castleton lunchtime tomorrow but looking at the weather I'm wondering whether to wait until tomorrow morning to drive up?

What's the weather like now Sheffield and above?

I live about a 40 minute drive south of Castleton, in Matlock, and most of the snow has thawed. Even on the high ground surrounding the town, there is very little left. I am sure things will be just fine. Anyhow, a touch of snow will make it festive!
Cheers, Steve.

We're in the Castle and there is no trace of snow in Castleton.

Moved on to the nags head as there are only 2 people serving in the castle and they are rushed off their feet

Here in Castleton the weather is clear, currently dry, slightly windy so don't let it put you off being here tonight.

Get yerselves up Mam Tor, it'll be nice if its crisp & clear, to blow off the cobwebs & work up a thirst / appetite for this afternoon & evening.

Oh, and have fun everyone who's going tonight!

We've just walked up to the entrance. It's cold but that area is sheltered and there are traces of ice but not on the path.

Just having coffee and cake inthe hidden tea room and I think Cod is also here.

Coffee and cake at ten in the morning..I like your style! ..>

We were hoping for a midday departure from Liverpool, but's it's looking like three at the earliest. As long as there's time for a couple of snorts and a plate of hotpot beforehand.
