I'm a manager in a contact centre and it is necessary to keep a strict eye on time keeping, performance etc. BUT there is a way to do it......I always treat my team as I want to be treated myself, involve them in everything that's going on, keep the communication clear and HONEST - and I do recognise the difference between a piss taker and someone who's slippng 'cos they're at the end of their rope! (A good manager will get them off the phones for a bit, let them clear their heads for a while - not just have a go because they aren't performing as well as they were last week or whatever).
You can't get the best out of people if you don't give encouragement - my team are great, really willing and good at what they do. While they might not love coming to work they know they're treated fairly and I'll defend them to the hilt if need be.

Just been told that my job is safe, so I've just eaten a whole packet of fig rolls in celebration. :)
About 10 people here not so lucky though. :(

Oh dear, I thought he couldn't change your job without your agreement?

Good luck on Wednesday - wouldn't it help though to know whether you're going for an interview for a snake charmer or a recruitment agency rep :*:

He can't, but as I have disagreed he can enforce it but has to give me 7 weeks notice and would be in breach of contract, so I could take him to a tribunual if I wanted, but my main aim is to get a new job!
