One wonders if the Susan Boyle stuff is also a set up to keep her name in the papers. Or is it the media building her up initially and now doing their usual about face and trying to bring her down.

I recall reading that some schools were thinking of not permitting any competitions at school as kids get disappointed when they don't win. But part of life is learning early on that sometimes you will be disappointed and you can't always come first.

How many entrants for X Factor etc. just cannot sing but have either decided for themselves that they can, or their friends and family have told them they can sing. When Cowell points this out to them on tv he gets villified but at least he has told them the truth.

susan boyle looks considerably spooked right now in this final part. She hasn't smiled or shown any facial expression at all apart from blankness. And why the hell am i even watching this?

edit - she hasn't won, anyway.

Diversity were great, the Queen should enjoy watching them.

I'm sure we will hear more from Susan Boyle.

Good luck to her I say! Diversity were excellent and I loved Julian Smith - I'm a sucker for a good saxophone. His playing reminded me of Kenny G.

On a sour note, I was FURIOUS about that kid Hollie Steel getting a second chance. There was no second chance for Greg Pritchard when his cape didn't work right and he faltered in the middle of his song. And as for Amanda Holden saying that girl's voice was 'natural and pure' - utter tosh! She's been voice coached to death! I blame her mother - trying to live out her fantasies through her kid and, yes, I agree with those who say that whole episode may well have been contrived. How can Simon Cowell say she's 'officially the bravest little girl in the world?' Bollocks! Alder Hey Children's Hospital is full of little girls braver than her. Grrrrrr

I thought Diversity were excellent and were the clear favourites for me.

I thought Holly Steel was really good - and I'm sure her tears the other night were absolutely genuine - she's a young 10 year old and was clearly so upset poor little mite. You lot are so cynical!!

I thought that wierd looking bloke with the high voice was absolutely terrible!

I am glad its over though now I can get back to other things instead of watching the telly!

Is it bad to say that the old guy in Grand 2 made me wonder what Mr H would look like at about 80, entering a competition with one of his grandchildren

Of course, he has far too much taste and street cred to ever do such a thing .......

Me too. Proper talent in all respects!!

And I still say that Holly is a a prepped up stage school little madam....not THAT good an actress as for all her supposed emotion when she was begging for a second chance there were no real tears, just a screwed up face...her and her mother are a very unpleasant combination.

I was pleased to see that Diversity won.

Absolutely agree - I read in one today's papers that she had had over one hour of psychiatric counselling before the live show. Her mother really p*ssed me off by hovering at the edge of the stage and putting herself in the limelight. The kid sounds normal enough when she's just chatting, but seems to be 'stage-schooled' to within an inch of her life; no normal ten year old sounds like that! I'm glad she didn't win.

Loved Julian Smith too and though Diversity worthy winners :D
