think the programmes been taken off, doesn;t seem to work, shame cos i love Rory! his early stuff was fantastic. i loved that he'd go from full throtle electric blues to acoustic way before most bands went unplugged! 'Going to My Hometown' from the irish tour dvd is one of my faves. so powerfull and he plays mandolin on that one!
i got the Live At Montreux 4 dvd box set a while ago, it's fantastic. picked it up cheap too.

He was a class act

A statue of him was unveiled in his birthplace last week as part of the Rory Gallagher annual festival in Ballyshannon

Wow, fantastic statue! been a long time coming though. i read an article in a guitar mag about all Rory's guitars, Donal takes them out to exhibitions, and they are all kept as they were, none have ever been played since Rory played them, even the strings are the same too.
bet theres load of players itching to have a go on them though!

One of my favourite ever guitarists. Fantastic that he is still so loved by so many. The RTE documentary can now be found on YouTube. Reminds me of Richard as the music to him was everything and all the rest is just bollocks.

The documentary will be out in full on DVD in September, RTE just showed and hour long edit. Fantastic watch. My dad was up at the festival and they actually interviewed him on the news and he got the chance to show off his Gallagher tattoo! Delighted with himself!

I got him a tattoo voucher as, I think it was a Christmas or birthday present about 10 years ago, I think he's passed me out at this stage!

Loved him since the days of Taste - all the guitarists in my school used to rave about him. I saw hm half a dozen times at the City Hall in the 70s. Hugely missed - one of the few "honest" guitarists....
