I've been saying for a couple of years that what these rich pricks who ran the world economy into the ground are heading for, if they don't get wise, is going to make the French Revolution look like a bar fight.

that's the chief Bankers argument against it too (and the initial reason for banks in the first place - before they became gambling dens). If it was a big enough happening people could be safe in numbers and if the police were genuinely there for the people (which they will not be, as the banks are considered more important than ordinary people) they would sort things in the manner they arrange themselves at mass protests.

Other than create a demand on poor counter-clerks and chaos in the bank building lobbys I doubt this protest will achieve much other than news coverage. The "real" money in banks is held with major businesses and organisations. The "ordinary people" withdrawing their handful of euros is small change.

I suspect Eric Cantona has most of his cash tied-up in real estate and off-shore accounts but will, no doubt, make a token guesture of removing cash from one of his many accounts.

It appears someone (probably myself) has already withdrawn more money than was in my bank account to start with.

well I think one of the points being made is that there is very little 'real' money and if enough people ask for their money the banks don't actually have it.
So called 'money' seems t to be the last vestige of Democracy we have. If politicians lie through their teeth just to get into parliament and then do as they (or the corporates) wish then where is democracy? If we stop feeding these corporates maybe they will understand that they are meant to be serving us, not the other way around.
