Not the ability to bore people stupid with mind numbing solo's, but the affliction of the wrist call tenosynovitis, where the tendon flares up and its as painfull as fuck to move your thumb....I've got it! Finger picking and strumming in general is out for a while, although on the plus side its my right hand and as a lefty doesn't affect my ability to knock one out. :?

Sorry to hear that. I don't get it myself but i'm starting to think I've arthritis or something. My left hand gets very tense after I play or type.

I got that from typing loads doing e-mail interviews,my hand would kind of tense then seem to have no strength in it........it was simple to sort out.......stop f*****g typin..........end of.

Ah, I've never heard that expression. Not in the dictionary of universally accepted wanking terms. Translation appreciated. x

AHEM...........back to the thread.......... you have my sympathy david old boy,i have psiorritic arthritis in both hands, and up until very recently it was utter agony to play(not as much agony as those who have to listen to it of course)I went for a drink with my Uncle Eric and he gave me a copper bangle and about two and a half weeks later NO PAIN and it hasn't come back.........fingers painlessly crossed.......in your case it might be repetative strain injury(i shall let others comment on why that may be)both Shez and Colin have suffered with tendon related strains,Col thought he might never play at one point,Shez cured his by acupuncture and it never came back.....hope this helps kid,at least you know now that it can be sorted

Dave, I had tenosynovitis a few years ago from using hand tools at work. Like you said, incredibly painful to move the thumb - it kind of locks & nearly sends you through the roof. Got prescribed Voltarol for a couple of months, which worked eventually. Flared up once after that, but been ok ever since.
