Went to see a preview earlier this week of a new three part serial called Exile coming to BBC shortly (this month I think). Lead roles played by John Simm and Jim Broadbent. Well worth watching out for. John Simm plays the part of a London-based journalist who returns to his home in the north of England when things start to go wrong for him in London and Jim Broadbent plays his father who is suffering from Alzheimers. John Simm's character uncovers political corruption in the local council and something else from the past.

The first episode was shown at the preview and I thought the writing and acting were really good. Looking forward to seeing the other two episodes. Only down side is I think they're showing it on three consecutive days so I'm guessing I'll be watching at least one on the Iplayer!

Oh and someone mentioned that there's a new adaptation of Room at the Top coming up in the next week or so on BBC4. I'm sure that'll be worth a look too!

Thanks ladyblue. Same here!

There was a Q&A session after the preview and both John Simm and Jim Broadbent were there together with the writer and producer. It was really interesting to hear them talking about what had interested them in taking on the roles - and must say they came across as a couple of really lovely blokes as well as really good actors.

I'm not sure if Room at the Top is still on, the EPG on my recorder now shows Fanny Hill is on at that time.

Yes, I've just checked and it doesn't look as though Room at the Top is being broadcast tonight. Not a bad thing as it clashed with other stuff! Tried googling but I can't find anything with a date on .. just have to keep an eye out :D

Another producer is claiming they had the rights to film Room at the Top so it may be a while before we get to see it.
