Once again displaying a typically clog like touch.

Whatever the rights or wrongs of the John Terry situation (no great love for him here certainly), and whilst i accept the point that any circus around him would not be good for the rest of team, shouldn't it have been up to Fabio?

Taking the decision over his head, along with the residual hoo-ha, we now have one pissed off manager to boot.

Smart move you dumb shits.

In most other work situations Terry would have been suspended from work until the case is heard. He is so desperate to clear his name that he requested a delay in the trial until after the Euros, obviously he is uber confident that he will be proved right...or maybe not. It's backfired on him and the FA had no option but to step in and deal with the situation by removing the captain's job from him. The captain's role isn't necessarily about what happens on the pitch (though you could argue that his behaviour on the pitch is what has caught him out this time) but certainly at international level it comes with loaded symbolism and status that requires the projection of something more positive than Terry can manage.

Capello doesn't really care much anyway. He showed in the last major tournament that he couldn't deal with Terry - for good or bad and all of the Wayne Bridge captaincy carry on has again shown him to be incapable of accessing a situation with regard to all of the issues it involves. Capello will leave his job as England manager after the Euros in any case for a well paid high profile job probably in Italy and what he does in the Euros will have no bearing on this.

I don't mind about England either way, Terry is a fading player who should never have been so certain of his place in the team which is a bonus of captaincy. More so than ever his attributes as a footballer are also under scrutiny and there are players who are more than capable of replacing him on the pitch.

In all of this the concern for John Terry's wellbeing is becoming all encompassing and there is little consideration being given to Anton Ferdinand's position nor to the thoughts and feelings of other footballers who might be expected to share a pitch with him. There is clearly some disquiet among England players who aren't all thrilled at the prospect of breaking bread with the English Defence League's poster boy. None of this is likely to bring the best out a team which let's face it, needs all the help it can get just passing the ball to each other when the heat of true competition is turned up.

Terry's defence of his "words" is ridiculous, he has been caught out and like all bullies is scared of the consequences of his disgraceful behaviour. The real truth is that the FA have belatedly taken a decision which is in the interests of decency and what is left of the good name of football and recognises the role of the England team as it sells cornflakes, coco pops, mars bars or whatever to children across the land to set some positive models of bahaviour, something that John Terry has shown himself incapable of doing, long before he decided to verbally abuse Anton Ferdinand.

As Craig says, this is not about the rights or wrongs of what Terry is accused of.
This is about the F.A. taking away the managers right to choose who captain's England........Will they pick the team next?

Terry should have offered to temporarily stand down as captain awaiting the trial. The fact that he didn't shows that he doesn't have England's best interests at heart, or rather he's not smart enough to understand the division it creates. Either way you can't have a captain who players don't respect or suspect of being a racist. Or maybe you can? Football is very strange, and footballers are even stranger.

Whether Ferdinand was a "black cunt" or a "blind cunt" or a "blind black cunt", the fact is Terry is a nasty piece of work. Capello may want to have kept him and Fergie has backed him (wonder what Rio thinks of that decision) but the bloke is trash. What am I supposed to say to my kids when something they don't like happens when they're playing footie? It's alright to call someone a cunt, or be a racist if you don't like the way they play? I watch Spurs at home regularly and some of our best players are black. But despite the fact that White Hart Lane is in Tottenham, a predominantly black area, look at the terraces and see how many black faces you see amongst the supporters. And look around at the other clubs, they're the same. Something's out of kilter in the English game and I'm with Expano. Set an example and show the racists they have no place. x

Terry out is the right result, i was never disputing that. It's the way it's come about that's wrong.

Not in the least bit surprised. He didn't really have a choice.
