I believe Richard is on on the Friday but there's not much information on the web site yet.

I've heard he's collaborating with McFly.

I have very mixed memories of Whitley Bay! I worked there some 30 years ago on the then new Findus plant for the new Findus French Bread Pizza. We stayed in a B&B on the front and hit the bars and clubs every night, don't know what it's like now, but it was full of slappers then!

The worst memories are all car related. I had a MK 1 Escort and driving back to the site from a weekend at home in York, my car broke down on the entrance to the Tyne Tunnel! 8:45 on a Monday morning..... Mr popular!
Then one night going back to the digs, I could see some headlights in the middle of the road waiting for me to get past so they could turn right. They waited and waited and then just as I got there they set off and T-Boned the entire drivers side of my car!

I was OK but couldn't get in or out of the drivers side and couldn't lock the car. I got back to the digs and parked my car against a wall and climbed out the other side.

Next morning.......no car...some pond life had nicked it!

5 hours later, plod at the Findus gatehouse; "found your car sir, on it's roof in a school playground"; completely totalled!

3 weeks later, I get a bill from the local county council for £2500 (30 years ago!) for a new school fence, playground and seating!

Whitley Bay! :?

Just because, or maybe BECAUSE, you are in Cheshire doesn't mean you can undervalue such beautiful places. Whitley is a rough diamond and Cullercoats...well who'd pick on such a wee place?

It's all at the seaside at any rate which is always in its favour...and do you have the Spanish City in Cheshire? I didn't think so.

I lived in Cullercoats for 20 years, had a very happy childhood there.

Lost count of the times i've jumped off them piers and i have the scars to prove it.

In the summer it was the beach or marden quarry for a game of hounds and hares.

I have consumed many many beers in the Crescent Club, Bay Hotel (RIP) and the Queens Head.

And my brother broke his arm on the swings in Links Park... oh how we laughed...ok...i did...he just went oww oww oww..

Whitley Bay is a rough diamond, shat on by the council over the years, its supposedly going through regeneration but i've seen little of that so far. The Playhouse has been refurbished and looks really nice, the last time i was in there was when i went to see Petes Dragon in the 80's

Thats where Richard is playing on the friday night,The Undertones are on thursday night, Alex Burke and McFly Etc.. are appearing in Tynemouth two miles away over the weekend (for the kids)

As a footnote unfortunately the only part of the Spanish City left is the dome exapno, its a shame, loved it but times move on. :(

The council should get their heads together.... and make a fence?

Anyway its on a friday, get down there, enjoy the gig, then go on the piss in Whitley, it comes to life about 9 o clock, everyone should experience Whitley Bay at least once before they die.
