I cant understand him being 'let go' - get real - Carling Cup - FA Cup final - LFC are not Man City Man Utd Chelsea - whereas years ago we would look to Scotland now I suppose it will be Europe - who has done well in Spain France Germany Italy is cheap and speaks Scouse?

Jurgen Klopp - his name has Kop in it

I think its a culmination of a few things.. The mishandling of the Suarez affair, spending mega bucks on very avarage players for example ( Downing went through the season without a goal or a single assist to his name) and also coming accross as a total rude abrasive dick in interviews when being asked the most simple, straightforward and expected questions that a football manager could be asked. Hardly an ambassador for the club.. a race row mishandled and all the media skills of a disgruntled llama to go with it. The Carling Cup and another final ok but Liverpool were beaten quite easily at times by a lot of teams who they would have been expeted to beat and on home turf too. All that into the melting pot and its bye byes. American businessmen like results not just on the balance sheet and its also important to have a credible image he came accross as embarassing for me a lot of times this season and all the Liverpool fans I know seem to agree.

I lost an awful lot of respect for Dalglish - along with Jimmy Johnstone and Dixie Deans he was a childhood hero at Celtic - this season with his ignorant and abrasive defence of Suarez. He lacked dignity and perspective something which he has shown in his response to the Hillsbrough murders that he is capable of. Liverpool are a shambles and the better traditions of the club or should it be Liverpool Football Club (when did people feel the need to say football club repeatedly after their team's name? That gadgee from Spirit of Shankly really got on my nerves yesterday) have been left to rot for a number of years. Dalglish had an opportunity to revive that but failed. They finished where they usually do now but their great triumph in the League Cup was luck rather than design fluking the pens when Cardiff had shown all the skill and composure. They looked aimless most of the season and players with skill and potential have been wasted. Dalglish has taken a take it or leave it attitude and the squabbling absent owners have decided to leave it. His last efforts as a manager at Celtic and Newcastle were pathetic and illustrated he has lost whatever he once had.

And he was miserable and defensive. Watching him interviewed on Match of the Day was painful. x

As a lifelong Liverpool fan, after this, I think I'm just about done with modern football. It's not the game, and Liverpool aren't the club, that I used to watch and love. What would I be getting behind now, to go and pay 50 quid to stand with the various day trippers and out of towners on the Kop, chanting "easy, easy" and the various other cringe worthy things that get sung at Anfield these days? It's just the badge really.

People who aren't from the city can never understand what Kenny means, he defines Liverpool and 'The Liverpool Way'. He went to the funeral of every person who died at Hilsborough. He's put his life into the club, and the city. For him to be discarded like an old pair of socks by FSG, who seem to be sacking everyone with no real plan for what to do next, is nothing short of a disgrace. If he didn't think he could do the job, he would have stepped down himself, he cares more about the club than anyone. They've ripped the heart out of the club, and as far as I'm concerned, we're back to where we were when Hodgson left. The club could be heading for a long, long spell of mediocrity, barring some miracle and we got someone like Guardiola, which if you ask me, is delusional. Martinez even being considered is a joke. He's a nice guy and he's played a decent brand of football at Wigan, but would he have been considered had this happened in January, would people have been talking about him in the media, when Wigan were rooted to the foot of the table? It's the modern, flavour of the month football fan/pundit at their worst.

The modern football fan seems to find it hard to see the bigger picture; the fact of the matter is, the football Liverpool have played this season has been loads better than under Hodgson; when he was sacked, Kenny came in and galvanised the team and the club, and we only narrowly missed out on European football. This season, two cup finals, one won, yes the league form hasn't been good enough, but the football has been (bar the odd bad performance, which every club has at some point) pretty good. Not had a lot of luck re: hitting the post etc. So I think he should have been given another season, if after that things hadn't improved then fair enough, but if Kenny bloody Dalglish can't be given more than a year in full charge at Liverpool, who will be? I personally think a lot of it is down to the Suarez affair, which could have been handled a lot better, but what I want to know is why was Kenny left to deal with the whole thing? Where were the owners then with their statements, where was the 'director of communications'? They hid, pure and simple.

It's a sad, sad time for the club, and I fear it's just going to turn into a franchise, or Chelsea north without the money. Some fans (particularly the plastic fans since 2005) will happily settle for success by whatever means necessary. Well I can tell you that plenty who live in Liverpool, that go to the match, are outraged by what's happened, and won't, and I doubt I'll ever feel the same about the club after this. Kenny deserved better, and 'The Liverpool Way', is dead.
