The Lyceum Theatre at Crewe or Nantwich Civic Hall would suit me. I saw Steve Harley one year and The Animals/The Move a couple of years ago at the Music & Jazz Festival at Nantwich Civic Hall. They had 'Cabaret' seating both times with tables and some people facing the wrong way which was weird.

The Ritz had a refurb recently didn't it? Not been there since it re-opened but understand the sticky floor still steals your shoes if you stand still for too long ...

Am at the Deaf Institute next month. Is it okay? Had a peek on the website and liked the look of the mini side balcony.

A neat venue - if you want a seat apart from the mini balcony you can go for some basic seating at the back of the hall - you are never that far away from the stage - this pic was taken from about the top and back of the 'balcony in the stalls'.

That mirror ball is there waiting for someone

I think the Deaf Institute wins out over places like Night & Day and the Ruby Lounge because it actually seems designed for people to listen to music in: no awkward corners or pillars etc... And it sounds great too...

Nice performance by Simone Felice from a few weeks ago there:

Seriously, someone convince RH to block-book it for a month...

Hmmm... the gents' sink looks uncannily similar to the urinal - I would bet good money that it gets unwittingly used as one at least once per evening...

The Soup Kitchen is pretty good too btw - the live room is a bit sparse and spare but the rest of the place is very nice and they seem to be booking some interesting artists.

Plus 1 for Manchester!

agreed this is probably one of the worlds worst 'Gig chatter' venues ever, but hopefully he can blow them all away.

Got tickets for Grandaddy at the ritz too. be interesting to go there again.

The deaf institute is a great venue went to see admiral fallow there a short while back. Hawley in there would be something bloody special.

And agree the ruby lounge as a venue is utter toss. Went to see Emiliani Torrini play there. got a 2 second glimpse of the top of her head.

Wait! I just had a great idea. RH does a 'hawleyboarders only ' gig at the deaf institute.

Rules for entry, (checks profile) you must have joined before say... 2006 and made (checks profile again) 800 posts or more...

You know it makes sense.

Why did you walk out? Was it because the gig had finished?

We got there too late and all we could see was the back of people's heads. Very claustrophobic. The venue was too small, really. Anyway, i have another chance...
