Try https://www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/sho ... pe=mailing

It's not for the specific gig - I selected Music only - then Radio - and Radio 6 - to reduce the number of emails...

OK I also registered for Friday Night Is Music Night Radio 2 - but don't tell anyone - other wise my level of cool will be buggered...

Yes, looking forward to hearing this special event. According to the announcement in this morning's R2 Ken Bruce Show (1hr 38min in) - which included an explanatory narrative by RH - the programme content includes reworking of some of Richard's song back catalogue. Should be good!

Will apply for tickets although, if successful, there may be some creative travel plans to be made. My ma is 80 the next day and is having a dinner (not a party, cos she doesn't want a fuss made and she can't believe she's that old and you lot can just fuck off if you think she's going to celebrate being nearly dead). So much rushing around would be in order. x

More info

Richard Hawley LIVE on BBC Radio 6 Music
with the BBC Philharmonic

Saturday 08 September 2012, 7pm

Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England UK
part of the BBC Philharmonic Presents... series

Live from Sheffield, Richard Hawley performs a personal selection of his songs with a full symphony orchestra for the first time.

Specially orchestrated by composer and conductor Joe Duddell (who has previously worked with Nero and Elbow), this one-off performance for BBC Radio 6 Music is part of its six-week season celebrating live music.

Joe Duddell composer/conductor
Tickets for this event are free and will be made available via a random draw. Please visit http://www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/tickets/ to check whether the ticket application window is currently open.
50% of public tickets will allocated to residents in the Sheffield and Rotherham area.

I'm assuming it will be broadcast live on the night (and fingers crossed for it also being on the red button).

Sounds just a tad bit tempting ... and there's nothing on at the City Hall that night

The beeb once thought I was the right profile for a second choice late stand-in audience member for Question Time, let's hope they think I'm suitable Hawley / Philharmonic material. Wonder if they offer bonus points for having been to Liverpool Philly?

Fingers crossed for all yous "disadvantaged" non-Sheffield folk too  Who'd have imagined that coming from round these parts would bring some positive discrimination one day ..>
