Got back home from Hawley week yesterday and getting back to the hum drum after a really lovely week away. Had a good old bimble around Melbourne and Perth, but spent most of our time in Brisbane sheltering from tropical cyclone Oswald. Never thought to pack wet weather gear....
The music all week was outstanding, especially in Melbourne, although I couldn't hear much of the support due to the constant talking in the crowd, which was a real shame as Rob Snarski deserved more attention. Thankfully the crowd did pay attention to RH and band and the atmosphere was terrific once it all got going.
The Brisbane crowd were a little subdued, but that may have had something to do with the weather - it was shocking. But the band were on top form and it was such a thrill to finally hear the music live, Remorse Code especially.
The Perth gig was a great end to the week, although RH was less chatty with the crowd. He said this was due to jet lag but may also have been due to some of the talking during the show and some of the idiotic comments from the crowd (someone asked why he was giving up smoking...
) but this did not detract from the music and I was really sad when it was all over. Heaven only knows when we will get chance to see them again. But I'm so glad we had our trip and went to more than one gig. I was also pleased to get my husband to take some holiday - it was a great break for him and we probably wouldn't have had the time off otherwise.
Big thanks due to RH and team for making the effort to come all this way. I know what a sod of a journey it can be and the jet lag for a week's trip must have been really shitty. And also thanks for the huge effort it must have been to bring all those guitars and amps and stuff - must have been a nightmare at the airports all week!! Sorry the crowds weren't bigger and the weather wasn't better. At least the sun shone a bit in Melbourne, and it was warm enough in Perth to dispense with the leather jacket..
Safe journey home xxx
