So, son number one is doing uni open days. Choice of uni has to be a. the right course b. within occasional home game distance of Spurs. It so happens that Sheffield is scoring big on the academia but is it close enough for home game travel? Discuss...

I have ex-Sheffield now-London friends who support Sheffield Wednesday who frequently go to games so being in Sheffield and heading to London matches should be feasible - two hours on the train, tickets bought in advance are pretty cheap (there must be a student travelcard which is worth investing in).

I am probably biased but Sheffield is a great city for students. Anyone I know who has been to uni here has loved it and many have stayed (sorry!). The station is right in the centre and there is a lot of student accommodation with more being built. It feels a safe, friendly city too. There are brilliant sports facilities and if he misses Spurs he could always come to Hillsborough to see what football looks like in the championship (for another year at least :( ). The best thing is for him to go to visit the ones with the courses that suit him so he can get a feel for the place. Good luck to him! x

I'm pretty sure it's a thing [fact] that more students stay on in Sheffield to live than at any other uni.

Which either proves that Sheffield is great, or everybody that studies here comes from somewhere shit.
